Hammond Park in Nice has shut down for a makeover that will last into 2026. Crews are putting in new playgrounds, sports fields, trails,lights, and even upgrades for the dog park. The $2.3 million project is being covered by state grant money with help from local fees and county funds. While The park stays closed during construction, officials point families to other spots in Upper Lake, Nice, and Lucerne. The goal, they say, is a safer, more accessible park that the whole community can enjoy.

A salmonella outbreak tied to eggs from Country Eggs in Lucerne Valley has left at least 95 people sick across 14 states, most of them in California. The company’s sunshine yolks and omega 3 golden yolks have landed 18 people in the hospital and Health officials say if you’ve got any of the recalled cartons in your fridge, toss them. The eggs were sold between June 16th and July 19th
California Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas is being sued by his former press secretary, who accuses him of corruption and payback. CynthiaMoreno claims Rivas and his brother Rick mixed state money with campaign cash and that she lost her job after speaking up. Moreno was ousted after sexualharassment allegations, charges she flatly denies, insisting the real reason was retaliation. Rivas’ campaign is firing back, calling her lawsuit false and defamatory.
