Danilla Sands describes her Mom, Deanna Rodrick Crosby–as someone who has spent a lifetime giving, as a single parent, running a daycare center and as a foster parent and helping anyone in need. The post says the Deanna saved two special needs adults when the fire broke out on Sunday–using a laundry hamper to pull them to safety Several animals died in the fire. Clearlake is pulling out of its contract with North Bay Animal services to operate the city’s animal shelter. The City Council has voted to terminate the contract because of allegations of mismanagement, overcrowding at the shelter and lack of communication with residents. The two sides signed a ten year agreement in 2022. City council members say while the decision wasn’t easy, it was the right thing to do. North Bay Animal Services also operates shelters in Napa and Sonoma Counties and a Sonoma County Grand jury recently came out with a critical report outlining similar concerns. Clearlake had been paying the non profit group $375,000 a year to run the shelter. N B A S says it is disappointed with the decision, which takes effect in 60 days,

The Lake County Board of Supervisors is looking at a change to the way the county is governed. One of the items on this week’s agenda–a consultant’s report from a March workshop on governance and organization in Supervisors and county staff discussed the pros and cons of having a chief executive–rathar than the current county administrator.. Several California counties use the Chief Executive Model–including Mendocino, but the job responsibilities vary by county and by title. The two positions generally have the same roles. Also on Tuesday’s agenda–rent stabilization for mobile homes in the county. There are no rules about that currently on the books. Some mobile home renters have expressed concerns about rent increases for projects in their communities, so supervisors will discuss rent increase limits. And the board is also scheduled to discuss funding for several small unmanned aerial vehicles–drones–for the Lake County Sheriff’s office for not more than $35.000. The meeting starts at 9 am tomorrow at the council chambers in Lakeport.
