The Lake County Board of Supervisors has decided to make some big changes at Hammond Park in Lakeport. The board has approved spending almost 3 million dollars for pickleball courts, a basketball court, landscaping, more open space, and a dog park. Money will come from a state grant, plus an additional $300,000 from the county Parks and Recreation budget. Supervisors say it’s an exciting project that will take about 150 working days to complete. The approval was unanimous. Supervisors have also agreed to a deal with social work provider Sierra Pathways to help young people with substance abuse problems and those at risk. The 960,000 dollars for the programs is part of the county’s share of the state’s Opioid Settlement agreement. Supervisors expressed concern about how the provider would use the money, but voted 3 to 2 to go ahead with the agreement.
