Cal Fire says two fires in Lake and Mendocino counties are no longer active. The Cole Fire on Bottle Rock, Keleyville, and the Pond Fire north of Laytonville are now contained. A jury in Mendocino County has acquitted a woman accused of being high on drugs behind the wheel. Alexandrea Vonrekowski of Lower Lake was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of Meth last October in Willits. DA David Eyster says even though the jury found Vonrekowski not guilty, she still has other felony drug charges pending in Lake County. She has been transferred to Lake County jail to wait for a trial on those counts. Eyster says the jury in Mendocino County was never told about the Lake County accusations–or about Vonrekowski’s pre-trial admission that she didn’t have a valid driver’s license when she was stopped and charged.

California is considering redrawing ITS congressional maps in response to Texas’s plan for new maps that would make at least five Lone Star districts solidly republican in the 2026 election. California democrats are reportedly about to release a new map that makes several districts more friendly to THEIR party to offset any gains by Texas.
