Significant progress on the Lake Fire on Eastlake Drive in Clearlake. Cal Fire says forward progress of the flames has been stopped–and that the fire is 60 percent contained over 410 acres. It’s been burning since Sunday. 14 engines, four hand crews, and three water tenders are working the fire with 125 total personnel assigned. Half a dozen outbuildings have been destroyed, while two others and a private home have been damaged. One firefighter has suffered injuries. Cal Fire expects full containment by the weekend, if not sooner.
The Clearlake City Council has a planning meeting coming up. The meeting on Wednesday at 9 AM will be at the Adventist Health Clear Lake Hospital. The only item on the agenda is a planning workshop. While the meeting is public, there will be no livestream on Zoom
PGE says it hopes to lower customer bills based on its latest financial results. The company says the numbers suggest that bills could start to go down — but not until next year. PGE says profits during its second quarter were about the same as last year–and that revenue was down a bit. The latest long-term rate request to the Public Utilities Commission says bills should stay relatively stable from 2027 to 2030, with the lowest potential rate increase in recent history. PGE says it could lower rates if projected demand for more power from the growing AI tech field goes up as projected
