California’s craft beer industry is feeling the pinch, with many breweries seeing a decline in sales. New data from the Brewers Association shows that in 2024, only four of the state’s ten largest craft brewers reported growth. San Jose’s Gordon Biersch saw a 3% drop, while North Coast Brewing in Fort Bragg experienced a 10% decline. There were some bright spots, Santa Rosa’s Russian River Brewing Company was one of just two breweries to post a 9% increase in sales.

A man has died after falling into Lake Sonoma on Monday afternoon near the boat ramp off Rockpile Road. According to the Northern Sonoma County Fire Protection District, the man appeared to experience a medical emergency before collapsing into the water. Bystanders quickly pulled him out and attempted CPR, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The exact cause of death has not yet been determined.

A construction accident on Main Street in Ukiah Friday afternoon led to a gas main break in front of the Ukiah Library, prompting an emergency response. Ukiah Police and Fire crews quickly arrived on scene, shutting down Perkins Street and detouring traffic between State Street and Mason Street for several hours. As a precaution, an evacuation was ordered for the area between Perkins and Norton. That evacuation has since been lifted, and officials say it is now safe for residents to return.
