The Lakeport Planning Commission is discussing a short-term rental application. The next commission meeting is August 13th.
A well-known business in Lakeport has broken ground on a new building:
Disney’s Boat Rentals has been a Lake County fixture since 1983, and now, they’ve started work on a new facility, the company says will expand its business significantly. Lake Port City council member Brandon Disney, who is also the son of the rental company’s founder, says his whole family has been working hard to get the project off the ground. Disney’s has been at the current location for the past 31 years. The new building is a lot bigger than what they had before–six acres across from the lake near the high school. It includes new docks–one 100 feet long and another 125 feet long–one of which will be used just for fueling and cleaning. The Disneys didn’t waste any time getting started–they began work just a day after getting their building permit last week. The new place will be open next spring,–in time for next summer’s busy rental season.
The Trump administration is suing the state over its policy of allowing transgender girls to compete on girls’ sports teams. The suit alleges that police violate federal law. It’s the latest in the back-and-forth between California and Washington over the hot-button issue. The suit names the education department, not Governor Newsom, who has said keeping biological boys off girls’ teams is what he calls an issue of fairness. No comment from the education department
