The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office is warning about phone scams after getting more calls from people who say they were targeted. The latest variation has callers claiming to be law enforcement with a warrant or a court summons. The scammers seem to have their sights on older people who have reported most of these calls. The sheriff’s office says, as convincing as the callers may sound, real police never try to serve warrants or summons over the phone. If you get such a call, you should let the sheriff’s office know.

Cal Fire says they recorded hundreds of lightning strikes as they monitor conditions to the north. They say a few small fires were reported in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest after sensors detected more than 2,800 lightning strikes between Monday and Tuesday evening,

Today promises to be one of the busiest travel days of the year with the Fourth of July weekend around the corner. Triple A predicts more than 72 million people will be on the move between now and Monday, travelling at least 50 miles from home. Mendocino County gas prices are some of the highest in the state–AAA reports you’ll pay somewhere around $4.90. Lake County’s average price is $4.48. Statewide, the average is $4.57, as always, the highest in the lower 48. Look for a slight increase at the pump, but AAA predicts no dramatic swings in the coming weeks, depending, of course, on geo-politics.

California State Parks is planning a meeting to share progress on the Clear Lake State Park general Plan and get more public input. The department has been looking three alternative priorities for the park including emphasizing recreation, emphasizing resource management, or some mixture of the two. Each would mean a different set of actions, and the state wants to know which park users would like to see.. The meeting is July 16th from 6 to 8 at the park on Soda Bay Road. Normal park entrance fees will be waived for those attending. The state has been working on the general plan since last August. They say they’ll take what they’ve heard from the public to write a final document outlining what Clear Lake State Park could eventually look like.

Clearlake police are looking for a missing teenager. The police say 17-year-old Ty Lovisone was last seen leaving his home Tuesday. He is 5 feet 9 inches tall, 150 pounds, with short blond curly hair in a mullet style and hazel eyes. Ty was last seen wearing a red t-shirt, black pants, black shoes, and rubber bracelets on his left wrist. You can contact the Clearlake PD if you have any information
