State leaders and Governor Newsom are set to vote on the state budget plan later today. Two infrastructure projects are being considered in the nearly 321-billion-dollar plan. Governor Newsom’s spending plan included the Delta Conveyance Project, a 45-mile water tunnel for Southern California, but for now, under the now tentative budget, it won’t move forward. The state will instead prioritize funding for the High-Speed Rail project.
Plaskett Meadows Campground in western Glenn County has reopened as of today, after being closed due to damage from the 2020 August Complex fire and recent winter storms. Forest staff repaired the area by installing new fire rings, barriers, and signs. Campsites #7 and #18 still need picnic tables, which are coming soon. Water is available, and a new scan-and-pay option through recreation.gov is now available.
The Department of Public Works for Lake County says to plan ahead. County road crews will pave Winchester Street and Mill Street in Lower Lake on July 7–8 as part of the Chip Seal program. Big Bear Road will be temporarily closed at Winchester Street. Single-lane traffic control will be enforced on sections of Winchester and Mill Streets, and you can expect 20 minute or so delays. Crews will work all day from 8 to 5.
The City of Ukiah is set to open bids for a project to replace a storm drain at the Redwood Empire Fairgrounds. It’s caused frequent flooding in the parking lot and nearby school grounds for some time. The Ukiah City Council approved the $823,630 project earlier this month. The Ukiah Daily Journal says bids for the project are set to be open at 2, Tuesday afternoon, in-person at the Civic Center Council Chambers or you can view it online.
