The Lake County Board of Supervisors has fired the county’s Public Works Director. The board voted in a closed meeting this week to terminate Glen March, who was appointed to the job last June. The board had reviewed March in December, and he was set for a second evaluation earlier this month before he was let go. At the time he was hired, the board said March had worked in engineering roles in Palo Alto and Hollister for more than 30 years. He was supposed to work alongside retiring Public Works Director Scott DeLeon to facilitate the transition before his permanent appointment became effective June 29. The Board now has to deal with another vacancy in a key county position. They’re already looking for a permanent director of Animal Care and Control. Gregory Wilkins announced his resignation in February after less than six months. His last day was May 28th. Assistant County Administrative Officer Stephen Carter Jr. has been appointed to the post on an interim basis, effective July 1.

After the parade at 11, there will be an awards BBQ at the Redwood Valley Riding arena. Black Bart was a legendary stagecoach robbing outlaw known as the gentleman bandit during the gold rush days in the 1840s and 50s
