Authorities in Mendocino County say a 39 year old from Fort Bragg was arrested last week for allegedly shooting at his roommate. The victim, 23 year old Jeremy Segura who lives with Saysomone Manyphone, told deputies he believed he was shot at although, deputies said he didn’t appear to be wounded or injured. However, when deputies searched their residence, they found a gun, signs that it had been fired and evidence of a violent struggle. Mendovoice says Manyphone was booked into the Mendocino County Jail on suspicion of assault with a firearm and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He’s being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond.

An opportunity to tour the City of 10,000 Buddhas in Talmage is this Saturday. City officials say they’re opening the monastery to the public for the 30th anniversary of the founder’s nirvana. You’ll get a chance to check things out, and maybe even do some meditation or chant a mantra. You should know that the CTTB, which is a 500 acre campus, not only houses the Tathagata Monastery, but also has an elementary school, a boys and girls secondary school and the Dharma Real Buddhist University. Willits News says the free tour and different activities begin at 8 a.m.

The Ukiah City Council is meeting with the Mendocino County Inland Water and Power Commission tonight. The discussion will focus on issues regarding the Potter Valley Project and Mendocino County’s future water supply. Specifically, creating additional space for water storage at Lake Mendocino, which has been talked about for years, but is a major priority pending decommissioning of the Potter Valley Project. Willits News says the meeting kicks off at 5:30 at the Ukiah Valley Conference Center. You can also attend it online.

Mendocino County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services is holding a joint Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) and Quality Improvement Committee meeting on June 25 from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Hospitality Center, in Fort Bragg. They’ll discuss and explain Behavioral Health services and Mental Health Services Act programs in the county. CAL Fire is implementing methods aimed to prevent wildfires around the state. The Agency is working to manage plant growth including any necessary removal of excessive brush. Other methods to handle plant growth include controlled burnings. The techniques specifically target each designated area around the state and the best way to curb any possible factors that would contribute to wildfires.

It’s Fair time. The Redwood Empire Fair Spring Fest kicks off tomorrow at the Redwood Empire Fairgrounds in Ukiah. It’s got something for everyone, including live music, delicious deep fried and sorted other popular fair foods along with those fun and scary rides. This year’s Spring Fest also features two nights of motorized speedway action. Ukiah Daily Journal says grandstand admission requires tickets for everyone ages 3 and up, but admission to the fair is free.
