The Lake County Sheriff’s office is waiting for an autopsy on a man whose body was found off shore in Clearlake Oaks. Deputies had responded to an overturned kayak in the water before the discovery on Thursday. The man–whose name hasn’t been released–was not wearing a life vest.
The sheriff’s office is reminding boaters to keep safety in mind on the water this weekend. You can expect lots of activity for the annual summer kickoff event on Clear Lake, Blue Lakes, Lake Pillsbury, or the Indian Valley Reservoir.. The marine patrol will be out–enforcing boating safety rules–including things like wearing a life jacket, keeping speeds down in designated areas, and boating while intoxicated. The weather looks great on water–and on land–though Monday.
The Ukiah Airport is showing off on a special Day. Ukiah Airport Day is June 7th from 9:00 to 2:00. It will feature flying demos, experimental planes, warbirds, and aviation units from CalFire and Reach Medical. Officials say it’s a good way to remind the community of the airport’s many services. Admission and parking are free.
