Ukiah police have arrested a man after a witness reportedly saw the man walking down Airport Road with a gun. Responding officers found and detained Rahul Shukla of Santa Rosa and say he had a gun sticking out of his pocket and was under the influence.. Police were able to locate Shukla’s car about a mile away, where they say they found cash, a gun magazine, and a holster for the gun he was carrying. A check showed that Shkula had felonies on his record, meaning he isn’t allowed to have a gun. The charges against him include two felonies and a misdemeanor. He is in Mendocino County jail.
A new boat rental facility in Lakeport –up for discussion by the Lake County Planning Commission. At the commissioner’s regular meeting on Thursday, the owner of Disney’s Boat Rentals will outline plans for a 6-acre parcel on Lakeshore Boulevard. Building the new facility will require a Lake County Water Resources Department for two docks and buoys. The project would also include a two-story building for a rental shop and boat storage. The county staff is recommending approval. Also on the agenda, a major use permit for a commercial cannabis facility for Poverty Flats Ranch on High Valley Road in Clearlake Oaks. The meeting starts at 9:00 at the County Office Building in Lakeport.
Fort Bragg Police are holding a community meeting to talk about homeless encampments that have popped up in greenbelt areas around the city. Police are looking for volunteers to help clean up the sites and minimize any environmental damage. The meeting is June 7th at 11 AM, the location to be announced.
Lake County supervisors have honored veterans with two new plaques–one for all those who have served and another for the 30 Lake County residents who have died serving our country, dating back to World War 1 in France. Veterans groups say honors like this are important so that future generations never forget the sacrifices of those who came before.
