The City of Ukiah is starting a new volunteer program to make the city shine. The program has already cleaned up the area around the Skatepark across from Ukiah High – painting buildings and scrubbing away graffiti. Next cleanups will be May 11, May 25th, and June 9th. More are planned during the summer and fall, focusing on creeks. The city says the idea behind the cleanups is to respond to community complaints. You can find out more on the city’s website and social media.

The state is changing something you probably never thought about. California is running out of License Plate numbers under the current numbering system because of increasing vehicle sales. The 9 series combination in place since 1989 will reach its limit in 2026, with tag number 9ZZZ999 being as far as they can go. Now, with a new generation of plates, they’ll go with three numbers, three letters, and a number –like 000-AAA-0. That should last for at least another 40 years. Who knows WHAT people will be driving–or maybe FLYING –by then.
