Davis told the deputy that he was on probation and subject to an active search clause and following confirmation, the deputy searched Davis and the car, turning up four one-pound packages of methamphetamine. Davis was arrested on felony charges related to possessing a controlled substance for sale and transporting a controlled substance within and between counties. He was booked into the Hill Road Correctional Facility. You should know that the amount of meth seized from Davis is equivalent to roughly 18,000 doses that will not hit the streets.

The legislation, called the Right to Rest Act, would still allow local governments to clear encampments. However, it will protect both homeless people and those who assist them with basic survival needs from civil or criminal penalties.
