The weather will improve as the latest storm system moves away. Before it did, the National Weather Service reported observations of mid-march snow at Cobb 3223 ft elevation and between Hopland and Lakeport at 2500 ft early this morning. CHP says while the weather will gradually improve, you should still be aware of conditions, especially higher terrain.
The case against a man from Lakeport accused of two break-ins, assault, and attempted sexual assault is turning on whether he is competent to stand trial. Lake County News report Markel Plummer is facing 8 felony and 5 misdemeanor charges filed after he was arrested on February 28th. Lake County Public Defender’s office represents Plummer and is raising the issue of his mental fitness. A doctor’s evaluation and report is report due in court April 8th.
Local law enforcement officials say they have no information about immigration enforcement in their jurisdictions, Mendocino County Sheriff Matt Kendal tells The Mendocino Voice there is no truth to online chatter that ICE agents were gearing up for a large operation in the county. He says ICE agents have been around recently–not for immigration enforcement, but for an unrelated case. ICE says online rumors are just that–rumors that aren’t based on the facts.
The Lake County Board of Supervisors has amended its long-term plan to comply with state regulations. The 2050 plan now contains information about the county’s Local Hazard Mitigation plan approved by FEMA. The state requires that information in county planning documents to be eligible for Disaster relief funds.
