The Lake County Registrar of Voters office has added up the cost of last fall’s nonbinding referendum to change the name of Kelseyville. The Lake County News reports Registrar of Voters Maria Valdez puts the total for the question at just under $4,000. That includes the cost of the ballots, postage, supplies, and printing. That is just a fraction of the 2024 election cost last year of almost $238,000. Valdez says the additional cost for the name change Question U was much less than the $50,000 which was what she projected the maximum cost would be. She says that $50,000 figure was just her guess at what the top dollar amount could be.
