The Lake County Board of Supervisors is considering whether it should weigh in on plans to decommission the Scott Dam at Lake Pillsbury. A letter to Governor Newsom and to the Trump Administration opposing the removal of the dam is on the agenda at the board’s next meeting Tuesday. Supervisors will draft a letter, that opposes PG&E’s plan to pull the dam after it gives up its license for the Potter Valley Hydro project. The letter says the dam is vital to water storage and for emergency use and that PG&E hasn’t outlined its plans to mitigate the impact of the dam’s removal. Board members also plan to comment to PG&E for the record against the idea. Supervisors say they want to meet with the governor’s office to share their concerns –saying the state needs to come up with a better solution for decommissioning than the one PG&E is advocating. The meeting is at 9 AM on Tuesday in the Council Chambers.
