A Ukiah family is out of their home following a fire this morning. It was caused by flames from their wood stove which spread to the walls of their home. The Ukiah Daily Journal reports that the Ukiah Valley Fire Authority dispatched crews to the home on South State Street just before 6:30. Crews had to remove a lot of the wooden structure near the stove to make sure the fire was completely out. UVFA Battalion Chief Justin Buckingham says the chimney was clogged which caused the gases from the fire to build up inside the home, and that’s what caused the wood walls to catch on fire. Buckingham says fortunately no one was injured and the family has contacted the local chapter of the American Red Cross for help.
