We are in for quite a bit of rain over the next several days. The National Weather Service predicts the first significant rain–perhaps an inch or two–through the weekend. There could even be some snow or an icy mix in parts of Lake County from Sunday into Monday. Forecasts say there is a slight risk of flooding in low-lying areas.

The California Public Utilities Commission has said yes to $48 million for several broadband infrastructure projects, including three in Lake County. It’s called the last mile funding and the PUC says it’s part of the state’s commitment to bridging the digital divide through broadband for everyone. The projects will serve residents in low-income areas. Lake County News reports the improvements are proposed by A T and T around Hidden Valley Lake, and Mount Hannah, in the South County and by Mediacom which will have sites near Clearlake Oaks, Kelseyville, and Lakeport. Lake County’s share of the fund is about 15 million dollars, which will improve access for about 7,000 potential customers.
