The Lakeport City Council is considering an ordinance prohibiting loitering around public restrooms. Lake County news reports that It would ban loitering within 15 feet of public restrooms or blocking the entrances and exits. Police back the change. They say they’ve received more complaints recently about lingering near the public restrooms –things like sitting around the entrance, laying on the floors inside the restroom, and even aggressive behavior. Police Chief Dale Strobe says the ordinance would give his department a way to crack down on loitering— something not written in any current local or state laws The Council will hold a hearing on the ordinance and could adopt it at their next meeting on February 4th.
