Some nurses from Mendocino County are in Los Angeles to help the LA fire response. Five nurses from Adventist Ukiah Valley and another 6 from Adventist Howard Hospital are helping out at a sister Adventist facility in Glendale, near where the fires have been raging since Wednesday. The nurses say they share a bond with their colleagues and have experience in a community dealing with wildfires. Adventist says it’s part of a system-wide commitment to serve the places it operates. Crews say there is progress in containing the major fires, but that the situation remains perilous.

CHP continues to investigate a serious crash involving a motorcycle in Nice. One person had to be flown out by helicopter Thursday evening from Highway 20 near Dollar General. CHP says the person was thrown from a motorcycle after a crash involving a crash with another vehicle. The victim first was flown to Sutter Lakeside and eventually to an out-of-county hospital.
