A body has been found near the Noyo Jetty. Authorities say Fort Bragg fire department boats were able to recover the body from the water around 8:45 after the Coast Guard said they were unable to get to the area because of rough surf. The body was eventually taken to shore.. There is NO identity released yet and police are urging people not to speculate until notification of the person’s relatives.

Two women have been arrested after a traffic stop by the Ukiah Police on South State Street. Police say one of them, identified as Elaina Underhill of Ukiah, is wanted on a felony warrant from Burbank. After she was arrested police searched the car she was in and said they found meth and sawed off a shotgun and ammo. According to a press release officers linked the drugs and gun to the other person in the car, identified as Katelyn Walker, also of Ukiah–and that Walker has several previous felony arrests. She is now facing multiple felony charges allowed under the state’s new Prop 36, which recently went into effect. Both women were taken to the Mendocino County jail. Underhill will be extradited to Southern California.

Cloverdale Police have arrested a man after what they call a violent assault and burglary. They say Heriberto Castillo of Cloverdale barged and attacked a resident at a home on Cherry Creek Road Sunday afternoon and then took off. He was caught a short time later. He was booked into the Sonoma County Jail. Cops say witnesses provided key information that led to Castillo’s speedy arrest.
