Lakeport has a new Mayor and second in Command. Council Member Kim Costa has been elected mayor and Brandon Disneyas mayor pro tem, or vice mayor for 2025. Their selections came at Tuesday night’s council meeting, where members and others said goodbye to outgoing Mayor Michael Froio. Froio served a term and lost a bid to return to the council in November. His former colleagues called Froio a hands-on mayor who did his best for the community in the one-year position. After the farewell., new members were sworn in. According to Lake County News, this is the first time women have ever been the majority of the 5 member council, with Mayor Costa and Council members Stacey Mattina and Christina Price
You may think that common California Squirrels you see at your window or in your yard are cute, gentle, and docile. Turns out, a new study suggests that may not necessarily be true. A new study by UC Davis says the squirrels who live in California are evolving into something much more predatory–even eating meat. Scientists call that finding shocking because up until now, they thought California Squirrels were peaceful and lived on a vegetarian diet munching acorns and plants and skittering away from threats.. The researchers say they were surprised to see the critters stalking, hunting prey, then violently attacking and eating their kill. The researchers aren’t sure WHY the squirrels here are changing but it may be because of the changing environment around them The study was based on observations at a Bay Area park
