Underage drinking is the target of a new grant program awarded to the Lakeport Police Department. The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control announced a total of $3.73 million from the California Office of Traffic Safety to help curb underage drinking and educate drivers about alcoholic beverage laws. In all 26 agencies, including Lakeport Police, are getting up to $40,000 each for programs like fake ID enforcement, making sure delivery services are complying, fighting underage retail theft, and several more programs and initiatives.
