The election is over and preliminary count is done, but the work is far from over at county election offices. Now they have to canvas the votes to come up with the official number that must go to the state by December 13th. Lake County News reports that less than a quarter of the votes were marked “counted” as of early Wednesday so by the time process is over, the results reported election night and day after could change. Officials say it is a time consuming process because there is no room for error in the final count.
Two local credit unions are merging. When Community First Credit Union and Vocality Community Credit Union finish, the two institutions combined will have a 965 million dollar balance sheet, and 70,000 customers through 12 branches. The Boards of both have approved the merger, which should be done next year. They say they’ll continue to operate separately until they can combine systems. Officials from CFCU and VCCU say by joining together, they can provide more financial services to members and the communities in Lake, Mendocino, Sonoma, Napa and Marin Counties.
