The Mendocino Coast Health Care District has given an update on talks with Adventist Healthcare and it has an optimistic outlook. Adventist says it will pull out of its lease with the county for its Hospital in Fort Bragg without a new agreement and the two sides have been talking since last month. In its latest update, the Health Care District says the hospital won’t close. Mendo Voice reports district chairman Paul Garza has told the board the lease changes are in his words–minor. Adventist administrator Judy Leach has also told the board that there could be an agreement soon, but neither Leach nor Garza are going into specifics. Adventist informed the county last month of its intention to get out of the lease without changes blaming higher costs affecting the bottom line. They hope to have an agreement by the end of next month.

As the wildfire threat begins to ease, the Cal Fire Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit is formally canceling the burn permit suspension. Effective Friday, 8 a.m. if you have a current valid agriculture and residential burn permit you can now resume burning on permissible burn days. Cal Fire will still check up on agricultural burns until the official end of the fire season and other burns may still need CalFire inspections. You should still watch all fires closely and maintain control of all fires. If you don’t, you could be fined and held responsible if a fire burns onto neighboring property. Checking in with the Lake County Air Quality District is still required to make sure it is a permissible burn day. CalFire’s website has more information.
