The Montgomery Woods State Natural Reserve in Mendocino County is getting some additional land. The Save The Redwoods League is buying 390 acres of land for Montgomery Woods Northwest of Ukiah —along with 360 acres of land to add to Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve in Sonoma County. The land will eventually be turned over to the state park system. Park officials call the two parks treasures with their centuries-old trees that will now stand protected for future generations. The purchase will also create a buffer around some of the oldest trees in the forests at the heart of each preserve and improve conditions for the wildlife population that thrives there. Save the Redwoods paid 1.5 million dollars for the 390 acres adjacent to Montgomery Woods
