The Lake County Board of Supervisors is considering a sewer fee increase. Special district Supervisor Robin Boray told the council at a recent meeting that the fees for several areas in the county are in line with similar systems and industry stamdards. Those rates could go up as much as two percent, but Boay says there hasn’t been an increase in 20 years, meaning it’s time to catch up. Opponents told the council they think the fees would be too extreme and plan to protest. The discussion will continue at the next council meeting on the 24th.
If you need compost for that backyard garden, Lake County could have the answer this weekend. The county is giving away Compost–for free–on Saturday. You can get up to a cubic yard of it at three locations Upper Lake County Park in Upper Lake, Lakeside Park in Kellseyville, and at the Trailside Park parking lot in Middletown. Lake County Public Services says the giveaway will last until the supplies are gone. The county says QUankenbush Resource Company has donated the compost. Compost is great for the garden, with lots of benefits including growth and nutrition for the plants, along with reduced erosion and water conservation for the land.
