The Boyles Fire near Clearlake stands at about 40 percent contained over 81 acres. Cal Fire reports that 2,300 people have been evacuated and 30 structures and around 40 vehicles damaged or destroyed. The fire started Sunday.

Clearlake says there are resources available for those who need them. They’ve dedicated a page on the city website–clearlake.ca.. The evacuation shelter is at the Twin Pine Casino and the city wants everyone who is displaced to check in there–even if they don’t plan to stay.

Local non-profit groups are responding to the needs of those affected. Among the groups gathering donations –Lake Area Rotary and the Lake COunty Community Foundation.

Eleven education programs in Mendocino County are getting state help with projects that link students with agriculture. The grants from the California Department of Agriculture will support food education, school-based farms, and the purchase of locally-grown produce for the school cafeteria. The state says farm-to-school programs are meant to help nutrition and food equity across the state, especially in rural communities. Schools will get most of the grants, with farms and tribes getting the rest. Among the programs getting funding in Mendocino – Fort Bragg Unified School District, Shanél Valley Academy in Hopland –Willits Charter Association, and Pacific Community Charter School in Point Arena, Fort Bragg will use its $200, allocation to buy supplies for agriculture-related classes, fund a new farm-to-table program at the district’s alternative education school
