The Park Fire in Butte and surrounding counties is now almost half contained. Cal Fire says the fire is holding within containment lines with improving weather. The southern three-quarters of the incident is in the repopulation and recovery phase. The 430,000-acre fire has been blazing for more than 3 weeks

A half-mile stretch of South Main Street in Lakeport is getting a new look. The city council has approved a 1.1 million dollar project to re-do the pavement and sidewalks from Lakeport Boulevard to First Street. The work includes pavement repairs and markings, surfacing, utility adjustments, and rapid flashing beacons. City Manager Kevin Ingham calls the project–in his words–a big deal.
