A new environmental impact statement for a planned resort near Middletown is out. Lake County had to re-write the statement about the Guenoc Valley Mixed-Use Development Project after a judge ruled it didn’t address the impact of wildfire evacuations. Developers tell Lake CO News.com that the revision is a step forward for the plan that’s been in the works for almost 8 years. The County approved it in 2020 but a judge’s ruling in January 2022 put the project on hold. Those behind it say they will work with the county, the community, and fire safety experts to get the project moving forward. The county says the modifications would allow for the development of a 450-room hotel, 450 resort-style homes, 1,400 upscale residences, and housing for 500 employees.
