The latest from CalFire puts the Mina fire at 97% contained. The fire northwest of Covelo has been burning for over a week. It covered 98 acres, killed one person, and destroyed two buildings.
The Ukiah City Council will decide if the Orr Street bridge should re-open to traffic. City staff has presented three options.—keep the bridge closed except for bikes and pedestrians, allow vehicle traffic one way, or both ways. Staff recommends the one-way traffic option, with speed bumps on either side. Once the bridge reopens, the city will look over the data to see what to do in the future. The city could pay for the work by moving around some unused reserves from earlier projects to cover the almost $300,000 cost. The bridge is one of several items on the council agenda at its meeting on Wednesday at 6 PM,
A hung jury and a mistrial in the case of a man from Willits charged with DUI> The Daily Journal reports the superior court just told the judge it was at an impasse in the case against Clayton Sternick. He remains charged with DUI and several other offenses and the DA’s office has filed for a new trial set to start in late August.
