The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is trying to identify a woman found dead in North Lakeport on Memorial Day. The body was discovered in the Rodman Slough area and isn’t a match to anyone who is known to be missing in Lake County. Deputies describe her as a white female, around 5’02” – 5’05”, approximately 50-65 years old. She was found wearing a black tank top style shirt, purple leggings, burgundy socks, and black shoes with green nail polish on her fingers. She has short, pixie-cut blonde/brown hair. She has identifiable tattoos: a butterfly on her left upper chest and a flower on the back right shoulder area. You can contact the coroner’s office if you can ID her.

Officials hope the first-ever master plan will guide the county in promoting recreation that’s fun and healthy while preserving natural resources and cultural heritage.

The Mendocino County Grand Jury says the county’s Family and Children’s Services system is broken. The first report of its session repeats the concerns from earlier reports–that there isn’t enough staff, recruitment is poor and those on the job are stressed out because of that.. Since 1999, the grand jury has done 6 reports about Family and Children’s services and all have come to pretty much the same conclusion. The current report also highlights the disparity between the Native population and the number of native children in the court system. The grand jury suggests the suggestion be solved, but that it’s hard to figure out the FCS budget to understand where its funding is going. They make 23 recommendations and expect most to be in place by October.
