Monday night a 20-year old man was shot and killed near the downtown area of Santa Rosa. Several people had called to report gunshots on Slater Street near College Avenue. Police checked it out and found an injured man who was eventually pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe the shooting was a targeted attack and there is no immediate danger to the community. Santa Rosa police are asking that if you know anything about the shooting to call the Violent Crimes Investigations team tip line.
The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office in Willits arrested two people suspected of attempted murder recently. According to the MCSO, the incident began when deputies received a report of a man having been shot in the hand in Leggett, located in the northwest corner of Mendocino County, around 11 p.m. on May 10. Deputies were informed that the man was 56-years old and from Leggitt. He said he had arrived at his home to find his girlfriend with the two, identified as 42-year old Amanda Chapman from Ukiah, and 59-year-old Gregory Cox of Vallejo. They got into an argument and Chapman pulled out a gun at pointed it at the victim who tried to take the gun away but got shot in the hand. Several hours later deputies arrested Chapman and Cox.
It’s always good to honor our vets and tomorrow the Clearlake Oaks Moose Lodge will do just that. They’re hosting a veterans dinner from 5:30 to 7pm. On the menu is wild antelope bacon cheeseburger meatloaf with vegetables, salad and dessert. Expect some great music as well. The event is free to all veterans, with a $10 donation requested for non-veterans. The Moose Lodge is located on East Highway 20 in Clearlake Oaks.
