The Lake County Board of Supervisors has a meeting scheduled for tomorrow morning at 9 and that will be held in the board chambers of the Lake County Courthouse in Lakeport. One big issue will be the consideration of approval of a lease with the Lake County Rodeo Association for some property that is owned by the Lake County Sanitation District. You can watch the meeting online at countyoflake.legistar.com and on the county’s Facebook page. The two properties that are being discussed are for the relocation of the rodeo. The lease is for a 10-year period, from this month to April 30, 2034, with the rodeo association to pay $100 a year for the property.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office could use your help in finding a missing Lakeport man. He is 38 year old Alexander James Why. He was last seen on South Main Street in Lakeport on Friday. He did speak with his wife on that day. As of today, she has still not been able to get ahold of him since then and now believes his cell phone may be dead. Why is a white male, 6 feet tall and 190 pounds and he was last seen wearing black sweatpants, a blue shirt and sandals. If you have seen him or have any helpful information, you are asked to contact The Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

When you hear a company is refunding $23 million as a civil penalty you want to know what YOUR share will be, right? Service Corporation International – they do business here in California as the Neptune Society and the Trident Society – have agreed to pay the penalty and provide full restitution to clients who canceled prepaid cremation plans but never got a full repayment. State Attorney General Rob Bonta and prosecutors in Marin, Alameda and San Francisco counties filed the lawsuit. Each county will receive $5.75 million for the enforcement of consumer protection laws. The suit alleges that SCI engaged in a number of additional unlawful and deceptive practices, including lying about owning and operating its own crematories, and offering installment payment plans that violate California law.

There’s a meeting coming up Wednesday morning to get updates on retail in Lakeport as well as a new transportation plan. The Lakeport Economic Development Advisory Committee will be meeting from 7:30 to 9am in the Silveira Community Center in Lakeport. This meeting will be open to the public. The agenda includes a presentation by Charles Parker, project director for The Retail Coach, the consulting firm the city of Lakeport hired to attract new retailers. He will present findings about Lakeport’s retail trade area, best practices for downtown business districts and the current state of retail.
LEDAC also will receive a presentation on the Lakeport Active Transportation Plan that will aim to improve conditions for people of all ages and abilities who walk, bike, roll and take transit.
