33-year-old Michael Anthony Jones had been on the run for over three months after he was suspected of attempted murder. Now, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office says the Fort Bragg man has been arrested in Willits. Jones is accused of shooting at a 62-year-old man after a dispute over stolen property. Jones missed his target and ran off, coming back the next morning to shoot at the man again, wounding him this time, and once again ran off. He was seen at various locations in Fort Bragg and Willits over the last three months, but his luck finally ran out this week when MCSO tracked him down with the assistance of a K9 officer and made the arrest in Willits. He’s now being held without bail.
2050 may seem like a long way away, but the time for planning is now. That’s the feeling as Lake County Vision 2050 kicked off this week as the group takes a look at plotting the county’s development over the next several years. They will begin with a game plan for growth. That plan will most likely include how to best utilize the land, housing, transportation, environmental justice, natural resources, agriculture, and several other issues over the next quarter of a century. It took place in a called special meeting of the Western Region Town Hall and Lake County’s Community Development Director Mireya Turner added that those in attendance would also be revising the Local Area Plans which had been appointed by Board of Supervisor members. She also said applications for local area plan commissionaires should begin review by end of next month with decisions by end of June.
