A plea deal for a wanted felon caught last year in Ukiah. The Mendocino County DA’s office says Kourosh Sadeghi used a false name in several cases dating back to a bank robbery in San Diego back in 1984. He was convicted under a false name and has been in and out of prison for several felonies since then. He was on the run until he was caught drunk driving in Ukiah and cops discovered his true identity. His no-contest plea to counts of using a false identity and drunk driving charges will mean two years in state prison when he is sentenced next month. Sadeghi is an Iranian citizen but was living in Laytonville before his arrest.

California State Auditor Grant Parks has written to Governor Newsom to say the state has to do better in assessing the cost-effectiveness of programs aimed at homelessness. The audit says despite spending 20 billion dollars on the problem over the past five years, the number of homeless has gone up 6 percent last year alone. The audit recommends an annual report on outcomes and plans for state-funded programs in a public scorecard about where the money is going.
