Some Californians are facing heavy fines this tax season for not having health insurance. It can be up to $850 for adults, $425 for kids. State officials say the penalties are often far more than the cost of coverage through Covered California. The marketplace offers plans as low as ten dollars a month. During the 2022 tax season, more than 271 thousand households ended up paying the state about $312 million.
A repeat offender in Lakeport is in jail. Lakeport police responded to a domestic violence call around 4:30 Wednesday afternoon at a home on 11th Street. When officers got there, they found the victim, an adult female, who was taken to a local hospital with injuries. Officers also found Patrick Davies, but when they tried to detain him, he escaped and barricaded himself inside the home. It took additional officers and Lake County Behavioral Health Licensed Clinical Social Workers to finally talk Davies into surrendering just before 9pm. Davies now faces several charges including felony domestic violence, felony assault on a peace officer, and resisting arrest. Davies was out on bail after another domestic violence arrest on March 4th. This time his bail has been set at half a million dollars.
Clearlake Police are asking for help locating a missing 12 year old. Finnegan Fields was last seen in Lucerne. He’s been described as a white male, 4 feet 5 inches tall, and 92 pounds. Finnegan has light brown hair and hazel eyes. Clearlake PD says he was last seen wearing grey sweatpants and a burgundy shirt, in white shoes with blue soles. Anyone with information on the location of Finnegan Fields is asked to call the Clearlake Police Department.
In April, some PG&E customers will be seeing a rebate on their bill. It’s the California Climate Credit and it could be as much as 140 dollars. According to a press release, the rebate is for residential households with an active electric account, and the money will appear automatically as a credit on April bills from PG & E. The release goes on to say the money comes from the California Cap and Trade Program, and that the credit is designed to help customers during the transition to a low-carbon future. The credits are biannual, so you should see another one in October.
