The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man killed in a crash on Highway 20. Gregory Van Gundy of Willits lost control in a curve just east of Blue Lakes Road Sunday afternoon and slammed into an oncoming car. Van Gundy died, and two people in the other car were not seriously hurt. CHP continues to investigate.

Clearlake police are looking for information about a missing man. 65-year-old Kenneth Nicholson was last seen near the Clearlake Travelodge. The Leggett Valley School district is looking for someone to run the popular Mendocino Adventure Ropes Course on district land. The non-profit that ran the course has seen revenue dry up and the board says it can’t cover that shortfall. Board members hope a new entity plan steps up to run the course on an independent, self-sustaining basis. The course is closed until that happens. The district says it will accept proposals to re-open it. The course has been affiliated with the district since 1995.

Don’t shoot the messenger, but your PG&E bill could go up–again–in April. The state PUC is deciding on another PG&E request for a rate increase. The board’s decision could raise the average residential bills by about $5.00 a month for 12 months. That is on top of the higher bill you got in January. The utility says it needs even more money to pay for improvements already required by the state for wildfire protection and infrastructure improvement. PG&E says it is working to keep future increases as low as possible–close to the annual inflation rate.

Oops. Another case of a piece of a jet falling off. United Airlines says a wheel fell off a Boeing 777 taking off from San Francisco earlier today. Luckily, the lost wheel landed in an empty employee parking lot. Nobody was hurt. The flight was headed to Japan, but safely landed later in Los Angeles, so the 244 passengers could get onto a plane with all its parts intact. United says the jet is designed to land safely with missing or damaged tires.
