Voters aren’t exactly flocking to the polls on this election day. In Mendocino County, mail-in ballots have been trickling in. As of Sunday, just 15 percent have come back. That’s better than the state number–13 percent returned. The top races include the presidential primary and a primary for U S Senate. There are two votes there. One to serve the rest of late Senator Dianne Feinstein’s term through the end of the year, the other to set the candidates for the November election. There are local races as well and two ballot questions. Polls close at 8 PM. You’ll have to vote in person or drop off ballots by then. Mailed ballots must be received by a week from today. Mendocino County elections officials say they are confident the ballot snafu that had some people getting multiple ballots has been fixed and that only the CORRECT ballots will be counted.
The Lake County Board of Supervisors has approved a letter and resolution urging the California Department of Water Resources to study the impact PG&E’s Potter Valley Decommissioning plan would have on the region’s water supply. The Lake County Record-Bee reports that the letter will help the DWR move ahead more quickly with plans for a study, now in the early phases. PG&E’s decommissioning plan could end up eliminating Lake Pillsbury. The county says that alone is the reason for a technical study.
Congress is considering a bill that includes 5.5 million dollars for projects in Lake County.
