The worst of the latest rain is behind us. Some places recorded significant rainfall since the latest storm swept in from the ocean The National Weather Service reports Whispering Pines in Lake County got 5.8 inches, while the highest rainfall in Mendocino County was in Branscomb, with 3.4 inches. CHP reports no hazards this afternoon for downed trees, but they still advise caution. PG&E’s website lists no significant outages in either Mendocino or Lake Counties.

Southern California is now dealing with the heavy rains and flooding. High winds are also expected to hit the mountains around Los Angeles, with trees down and power outages. Governor Newsom says the state is coping the best it can.

California’s convenience stores say gasoline theft is taking a toll on their business. The California Fuels and Convenience Alliance is weighing in on the legislature’s efforts to cut the retail crime rate. The group says crime is a growing problem for its members with more people stealing gas at the pump with high-tech tools like skimmers and pulse manipulators–some of which can easily be found online. The CFCA wants lawmakers to pass a comprehensive anti-crime bill and address organized fuel theft in its provisions.
