PG & E is making slow progress in getting the power back in Mendocino and Lake Counties. As of late this afternoon, they report around 4,700 customers in the dark in Mendocino County and another 1,400 or so in Lake County. Many of the outages are small, affecting just a few customers in a localized area, making for long hours for utility crews.

The storm slammed the entire state, with record-setting rain across southern California. Some locations got over a foot, including the swanky LA County areas of Bel Air and Beverly Hills. The brunt of the storm has moved away, with Arizona in its sights.

An attempted murder case against a man from Clearlake Oaks is moving forward. The Record Bee reports a preliminary hearing for 26-year-old Treyvon Jones is scheduled for next month. Jones has pleaded not guilty to charges that he was involved in a shooting in Lakeport in October. He was arrested after the shooting at Austin Park. The charges against him included two counts of attempted murder as well as firearms assault and negligent discharge of a firearm.

If you and your special someone are into history, the Mendocino County Museum might have an idea for a date night. This Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM the museum is having an open house to preview its behind-the-scenes tours this spring. The tours will let you see things and places not normally open to the public, like special collections, storage facilities, and new artifacts soon to be on display. You’ll also get a chance to make a nature-inspired Valentine’s field sketch from some of the flowers on display. The museum is on Commercial Street in WIlits. We have the link for more info about upcoming tours on our website. {museum or 707-234-6365}
