We’re catching our breaths as the giant wind and rain storm moves on. As of late this afternoon, CHP reports NO road closures or hazards. Mendocino County says there may still be some trees down, so you should use caution this evening. PG&E reports progress in getting the lights back on. About 6,000 customers remain out in Mendocino and another 2,200 in Lake County. The largest clusters of outages appear to be along the coast between Fort Bragg and Caspar, north of Ukiah, and around the south end of Clear Lake. PG&E opened a community resource center this afternoon at the Little Red Schoolhouse on Bottleneck Road in Cobb. The utility website has the most up-to-date info about restoration, but generally, they’re saying within 24 hours.
A warning this afternoon from the Lake County Water Resources Department about BOATING hazards. The department says there is a lot of storm debris on or just below the surface, so if you are going on the water, you’ll need to be careful. The debris can cause significant damage to boats at normal speed. The advice is to slow down. Crews are on the lake doing what they can, but they say clearing the lake could take time. If you spot hazards like floating docks or missing and found buoys you can report the dangers to the Water Resources Department.
