Still no sign of a missing new mom last seen in Southern Humboldt County. 39-year-old Zoe Penrod has been gone since January 1 from her home in Myers Flats. Her husband told KymKemp.com that Penrod had been acting strangely for weeks following the birth of their now five-month-old son. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s office says Penrod has been spotted on surveillance video at least once and that crews have spent several days searching the woods off Highway 245, but have found nothing. Investigators worry that Penrod may have suffered a mental breakdown, perhaps tied to postpartum depression.

The days of using a parking lot to transfer transit busses in Lake County are nearing an end. The search for a designer and contractors for the new center planned for a site near Woodland Community College and Lower Lake High has started, and they could break ground next year. The Record-Bee reports consultant James Sookne recently briefed the Judge’s Breakfast in Clearlake about the project. He says the current site in the Walmart parking lot is unsafe for riders and drivers. Soonkne says the siet for the new facility will include spaces for electric buses and private vehicle charging and include solar panels and water harvesting. All six county bus routes converge at the WalMart site, which Sookne says hampers connections with other regional transit services. Grants will cover the 13 million dollar cost of the center

California’s attorney general Rob Bonta is urging the federal government to reschedule cannabis. He is joining 12 other Attorney Generals calling on the DEA to list cannabis as a Schedule 1 drug, which would allow studies to determine its value as a medicine. The change would also benefit growers, who could take new federal tax deductions for their crops. The Biden administration says it will consider the change. Cannabis is now a Schedule 3 drug, putting it in the same classification as other drugs like Heroin or Ecstasy.
