The Lake County Sheriff’s Office/Office of Emergency Services is conducting a test of the emergency warning sirens. The test Saturday at 12 PM in the Loch Lomond, Cobb Mountain, Anderson Springs, and Middletown areas during the Cobb Area Council’s Cobb Safe event. It’s to make sure the warning sirens are functioning properly. While it’s happening there will be messages sent out as a reminder why you might be hearing the sirens. A representative of PG&E at the latest Butte County supervisors meeting saying the utility would be continuing their proactive work ahead of the next fire season and their restoration work after the Camp Fire. The rep telling supervisors they’ve made progress clearing as many as 65,000 trees in Paradise that could cause transmission lines to spark. There are 91,000 trees in all that are supposed to be removed. The company also working to help get a campground open for RV’s so Camp Fire survivors can use it. They’re also planning to open a 24/7 wildfire safety operations center this wildfire season with PG&E meteorologists working with Cal Fire, and they’ll add 1,300 new weather service stations and 600 high-definition cameras in high-threat areas by 2022. There will also be a lot more safety inspections, they’ll to visual, drone and helicopter inspections.

A lawyer representing fire victims says PG&E is being investigated for possible criminal conduct connected to the start of the Camp fire. 85 people died in the fire and most of the town of Paradise was destroyed. This revealed in bankruptcy court for the utility which is reportedly going to pay as much as $235 million in employee bonuses, something victims are against. The lawyer telling a reporter the investigation into the ignition points of the Camp Fire in its early stages. PG&E has so far not commented on the report. Butte authorities are not prosecuting PG&E after a 2017 fire, which only burned 150 acres, but the Camp Fire’s another story. Cal Fire is still investigating.
