Homegrown Tones features music
from local artists, focusing primarily on events happening the weekend of
the show. We also will feature out of the area musicians playing in Lake,
Mendocino, Humboldt and Sonoma Counties. Listen for ticket and C.D.
giveaways, and for information on how to contact some of your favorite
local bands!
Tonight I have
music from Svelte Velvet, performing at the Ukiah Brewing Company this
Friday night. According to their website, the band features “Marshall Pierce,
the "Screamer of Roberts Lane" plays bass like a sweaty demon and
eats only raw foods. Annie Rosen, the voice of Svelte Velvet, is super
gorgeous and watches alot of Star Trek. Kyle Driggers, otherwise known as
"wordy angry guy" can't move and play guitar at the same time.
Greg Lojko on drums plays guitar for the Rubberneckers, and has a freakish
third hand that acts all on its own. Together, we form Svelte Velvet. An
unstoppable musical force characterized by thick textures and poetic
license. Music critics be warned, we will come after you. Peace and
blessings.” Check it out at www.myspace.com/sveltevelvet
That's happening this week on
Homegrown Tones! Thanks for listening, and for your continued support of
local music!
