The creative aspects of Radio are what Cherie enjoys most: writing and producing commercials as well as
being able to keep up with all the latest new music through publications like Gavin, R&R, and K-Wine's
other distributors. "There's nothing better than opening that brand new CD you've been waiting for from
one of your favorite artists and checking it out for the first time--often before its even been released
to the public."
Cherie's taste in music is eclectic, to say the least. At home she can be found listening to music from
several genres including rock (this including all the subgenres like alternative, techno, punk, funk and
classic), old R&B from the 60's and 70's, Classical, Jazz, and Reggae. "I appreciate music with a strong
message. Or, like most people, something I can relate to." Examples would be Everlast's "What Its Like",
Eiffel 65's "Too Much Of Heaven", Sister Hazel's "Change Your Mind", The Cranberries' "Free TO Decide", and
Everclear's "AM Radio" (having grown up in the '70's). Favorite bands on K-Wine? "Currently there's Dave
Matthews, No Doubt, Moby, 3 Doors Down, and Nine Days, to name a few"--which will undoubtedly change quickly.
"I love the new Nelly Furtado, Coldplay, PaloAlto, Killing Heidi & Five For Fighting releases." Favorite
band of all time? "Hands down, LEd Zeppelin! Too bad they don't fit on K-Wine's format but that's why we've
got MAX!"
Watch for Cherie performing locally with her R&B band, Groove Approved. And listen to her new feature show
"Homegrown Tones" which features original music from local artists from Lake, Mendocino, Sonoma and Humbolt
Counties, airing on K-Wine, Thursdays at 9pm. If you are a musician with original music and would like to
participate, you can get all the information right here on the
Homegrown Tones page.
Keep the music alive, and keep listening to K-Wine!
